The New Schematics
Rock 'n' roll has long been misunderstood as rebellion without cause. But it has always had a purpose: raw, risky, ambitious truth-telling. It's about calling it like you already see it; and then some. It's about putting rhythm, rhyme and volume to feelings we all already feel. It is an ever-evolving, tireless and timeless story. This is the rock 'n' roll of Music City's The New Schematics.

The New Schematics center around two best friends: Cory Bishop and Michael Bare. Their bromance began in 2013; and within a month of meeting in their home of Nashville, they were sharing a bottle of whiskey and writing songs together (on Valentine's Day, nonetheless). Just a few months later, Michael began to join Cory playing for his solo, Folk/Americana project.

Through the remainder of 2014, they played nearly 100 shows together, driving thousands upon thousands of miles in their outdated luxury tour van, The Ship. Their bond became stronger on the road, listening to their favorite artists on the long drives; watching old VHS on The Ship's old-school TV/VCR; sharing their hopes and dreams with one another.

"I started to see that something bigger than just my solo project was evolving," Cory says, but it wasn't until he got into the studio with Michael that things really began to take-off.

In September of 2014, the duo set out to record Bishop's next solo EP with Andrew Bergthold, a Nashville-based producer who most notably works with Ed Cash (Needtobreathe) and Ted Tjornhom (Mutemath). Bergthold's involvement was just what Michael and Cory needed to expand their vision. Their sound become wider; bigger; bolder. They brought in close friends and touring musicians Eric Montgomery (keys), Ayrton Guerke (drums), and John Briggs (electric guitar, vocals) to collaborate on the project. Bishop slowly drifted away from his solo, folk sound and toward a cohesive, modern rock 'n roll sound that the he and Michael had been destined for all along: The New Schematics.

Over the next eight months, what had begun as a folk EP for Cory Bishop, turned into a much bigger project that sprang a rock n' roll group. Bergthold's knack for sonic layering and inspired synth-laden production led The New Schematics to an honest, powerful and timeless sound that emphasizes Cory's intriguing story-driven lyrics. Leading with the singles "Born Without Borders" and "The Breakdown," collectively snagging 40k plays and counting on Spotify, The New Schematics released their five-track, self-titled EP in October 2015. They continue to tour on this record all across the Southeast, Northeast and Midwest through 2015 and 2016.

Their live shows and their EP are equally bold and big; honest and raw; classic and modern. It's rock 'n' roll.
